Components of reading...
Building Relationships...
Creating a school/home relationship for our students is very important in helping our students progress in their learning! |
In Class Activities...Fluency- we read our stories independently, with partners and also
record ourselves on Seesaw practicing fluency. This allows us to listen and reflect on how well we are going Guided Reading- we read together in small groups based off of our reading level. We can practice common skills and concepts with peers. |
At home activities...*Build vocabulary while
practicing spelling words… Have your child pick three words a night from their spelling list. After practicing they can then act out the word for you to guess. *Practice fluency when you read at home together. You can read as well, modeling good fluency, and they can also read practicing their fluency. Make it a habit to talk about what you have read to also build comprehension! |
5 Areas of Focus in our class...
Comprehension: The process that readers use to understand what they are reading. Phonemic Awareness: student’s ability to focus on and manipulate phonemes (sounds) in spoken syllables and words which greatly improves their reading. Phonics: teaches students how to use the relationships between letters and sounds to read and spell words. Vocabulary: is tied directly to comprehension as the higher the vocabulary the better chance a student has of understanding the text. Fluency: is the ability to read smoothly using the correct speed, accuracy and expression which then helps a reader have a better understanding of what they are reading. https://www.readnaturally.com/research/5-components-of-reading |
